For a European outdoor-lighting project, define the control function and luminaire architecture before selecting a socket or controller. Separate mechanical fit, electrical supply, driver interface and network integration. No one connector or product-family name establishes complete system compatibility.

Match the interface and driver

For a Zhaga installation, review the socket, controller power and LED driver interface as one documented combination. Where 0–10V or DALI is specified, confirm the exact interface and required behaviour. A Zhaga socket should not be assumed to convert an incompatible driver or protocol.

Check certification evidence

If the specification requires D4i or Zhaga-D4i certification, verify the exact product in the relevant official database. D4i and the Zhaga interface are checked through the applicable certification processes. A reference to Book 18 or DALI alone is not equivalent to a certified system.

Define connected-control responsibilities

Define the required protocol and version, gateway or network, commissioning tools, credentials managed by the project owner and maintenance responsibility. Confirm platform support for the exact controller and configuration. Validate dimming, sensor behaviour and loss-of-communication response on a sample installation.

Prepare a procurement document pack

Request the applicable model documentation, declarations and test records required for the intended project. Check the covered manufacturer, model, configuration and dates. Provide destination, quantity and timetable for a written quotation; do not assume a single document or lead time covers all European destinations.
